The Clinical Rehabilitative Massage Specialty Certificate is the nation’s most comprehensive and rigorous advanced training program specifically designed to provide the skills essential for addressing pain and injury problems.
Practitioners who have completed this 160 hour program have demonstrated a working knowledge of clinical anatomy, biomechanics, injury management, treatment planning and clinical reasoning.
A massage therapist who has earned this credential has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in their practice and along with well polished treatment skills will clearly demonstrate a high degree of professionalism for addressing essential patient needs.
Many people have heard that massage therapy could be helpful in addressing a wide variety of pain and injury complaints. Unfortunately, the training requirements for massage therapists to obtain a state license are highly variable making it difficult to identify if the therapist has appropriate training to effectively address those complaints. For years national organizations (like the AMTA, the ABMP and the NCBTMB) have recognized the need for an advanced training program and credential which specifically addresses skills necessary to work with soft-tissue pain problems.
The process of developing this profession-wide certification has been very extensive. The curriculum and content were created in consultation with hundreds of practitioners and numerous educational specialists with many years of experience in clinical and rehabilitative massage.
